Bloom Summer Camps
About the Program
The Bloom Summer Camps are week-long camps held in boarding schools in under-resourced regions in China. In our Summer Camps, student volunteers are fully immersed into the environment, engaging in active communication and interaction with the local students and teachers. Volunteers have the option to teach English along with a subject of their choice (could literally be anything!) to a class of 5-10 students. At the same time, through different events such as cultural exchanges, local home visits, and movie nights, volunteers gain first-hand experience of the local culture of ethnic minorities. Joining the Bloom Summer Camp allows you to help our students grow while helping yourself to develop as a person.
Objectives
We want the participants of our camp to recognize, understand and embrace cultural differences; to understand and master the art of learning and communication; to help each other improve themselves; to practice teamwork and communication; and, to develop learning skills, motivation and habits.
Process
Based on the Foundation's philosophy of giving young people a well-rounded education, participants of our camp, who are from different cultures, races and family backgrounds, spend a week together. In the camp, they learn from each other (whether it be academics, hobbies, or culture), live and eat with each other, and help each other. We encourage them to challenge themselves, tolerate cultural differences, enjoy sharing, and practice philanthropy.
The camp's various activities help our participants to understand multiculturalism, experience respect and tolerance, and sharing and giving.
